New toy

That 80's song with the line "I want a new toy, ohhho"
I picked up this really cool Cliff bar team Orbea the other day. Rides really nice. I had to put some wider bars on it, there were some tiny 39cm bars, felt like riding my old track bike. Been doing the noon ride and having a blast.

Here she is in all her glory.

It's back

I really am counting my lucky stars now that my Salsa Chili con Crosso is back where it belongs. Long story but here we are 4 months since it was stolen from my truck, till I picked it up last night. It's days of drug running or whatever it was used for are over. Time to get ready for cross season.

Fourth gear flyer

I went to the beach with the kids and Doug and his kids. No one drowned or got lost. Had a great time playing on the beach with all the kids, building sand castles and catching sand crabs. I managed to get out on my 4GF air mat for awhile. The surf was breaking right on the beach so the rides were not very long but it was a blast to be back in the ocean. I saw a lot of juvenile dolphins playing just off the beach. Paul has developed two new mat designs and I think it might be time to retire mine and look into a new one. My 4GF has served me well over the last 3 years, it has gone with me to Hawaii and up to Tahoe as well as all the surf here on the central coast. But then again it still holds air and is soft well broken in.

Something new

Tried a Stand up Paddle Board up here in Tahoe today, what a blast. I wish I didnt have my phone as I accidently walked off the back of the board into the lake. The Iphone is not water proof!!! So when I get home I need to get a new phone then a SUP.

Pondering

I think it is time to get back in the water. It has been a bit to long since I have been surfing. Time to grab the board and mat and head to the beach, frolick with the otters, dolphins, and other marine life. Time to for and attitude adjustment.

I have drunk from the cup

Well I have done it. After debating for a awhile now I finally got a single speed cross bike for this coming season. It was a bit of coin but I think it will work out. I rode it recently with brother Bruce at the golden gate course and was able to stay with him without any trouble so I should be able to be at least as competitive as last year. That's the theory anyways.
The specs: Waterford X33 frame true temper steel, Alpha Q fork, Chris King SS hubs and head set, Record carbon brake levers, White industries eno crank, Thomson seat post and stem. all the good stuff.
A couple of pics by me.

A present for me

I just love the looks of the old Raleigh/Schwinn 3speeds, been thinking about restoring and old one when this little beauty showed up at the shop. So I said to by better half wouldn't a nice single speed be great for taking the kids to the park? And so it now is in the garage with a expanding fleet of other bikes.
Took Oscar out on it tonight for his walk worked well for that.

Ahhh that just sucks, I am still in disbelief. I guess revenge and anger come next.

1 year on

Here we are one year later. So much has changed and yet so much is still the same.
Had a great ski trip this week, lot's of snow and the kids had a great time. Trent got to play in the snow for the first time and Shelby took her first ski lesson.

Finished a pretty successful cross season, I was outa shape for most of it, but it was inspiring to race. Bruce did a few races and seems to be hooked. Maybe we can tackle another year then a trip to Master Worlds in Belgium?
Raced this year on a Salsa Chili con Crosso, a really nice ride. I'll post more about it in the future.
