Took the Rock Lobster out for a ride. As it turns out the road was closed, so I took a detour on some trails. I forgot how much fun it is to ride skinny tires off road. All in all it was a great ride and got me all fired up for the cross season.

So I Have been working with Comet skateboards in developing a new deck. The prototype just arrived, can't wait to build it up. Just wish I didn't have to cover up the signatures with grip tape. Here are a few pics.

Mid summer

The summer seems like it is flying by. The shop is tremendously busy, the kids have various summer camps, and we have traveled a bit. Stanford Sierra camp was awesome this year, lots of playing. The next week we flew to Seattle for a wedding. Seattle was beautiful, I can see living there. Did the underground tour, bought a kilt, and ate a lot of great food. Here are a few pics of the summer so far.

Mid summer report

Well here we are in July. 2 more months till cross season starts. I can't wait, wish I was getting thinner and faster. But alas I will probably start the season as I do ever year, fat and out of shape.
I do have my cross bike dialed in, a Cannondale XTJ, not that light but it fits and handles pretty well. Been riding on the road with it of late, feels like I took a couple of steps back after riding the road bike but I will get the leg speed up eventually.

On the home front the kids are growing up so fast! Need to get and addition up really soon!!!

The garden in the back is coming together well, hopefully will have some late season veggies.

Working on a few things hopefully they will work out.

Hmmm

Well a new day dawns and I am still here. Many things have changed and some have stayed the same since my last post.

Another successful season of cross has come and gone. I went through 3 bikes before finally settling on one.

Got to use the new SRAM Force this year, which I am pretty happy with. I still think Shimano has the edge although I have yet to try the newer 6700 or 7900 stuff yet.

Met some new friends and reacquainted with some old dear friends thanks to facebook.

The family I got to take that vacation to Disney World, a week of Disney will be fine for another 4 years.

Able to go see the old man and his new flame. Glad they are doing well. If she can stay with him on a boat up the coast she will probably be able to handle anything he does.

Had hernia surgery, it's taking me a while to heal up but I am glad it's done and over.

Still at Performance, not really where I want to be, but with the addition going up it may allow me the freedom to get a little more work done around the old homestead.

I am sure there is more but I am off for my 6 month cardio check up.

Cheers.

New toy

That 80's song with the line "I want a new toy, ohhho"
I picked up this really cool Cliff bar team Orbea the other day. Rides really nice. I had to put some wider bars on it, there were some tiny 39cm bars, felt like riding my old track bike. Been doing the noon ride and having a blast.

Here she is in all her glory.
